Twentieth Columbia flight. The flight carried the Life and Microgravity Spacelab (LMS-1) in its cargo bay. There were 22 experiments conducted in the LMS involving fish embryos, rats, Bonzai plants, fluid dynamics, metallurgy and protein crystal growth. Thirteen of the life science experiments were devoted to the study of microgravity and its effects on the human physiology. Landed at Kennedy Space Center, FL. July 7, 1996.
