Description

Nineteenth Columbia flight. The deployment of the Tether Satellite System (TSS) ended when the tether broke. The satellite was lost when it reentered the atmosphere. As part of the USMP-3 cargo bay experiments were the Advanced Automated Directional Solidification Furnace (AADSF), Critical Fluid Light Scattering Experiment (Zeno) and the IDGED, OARE, MEPHISTO experiments. There were also three Middeck Glovebox Facility Combustion Investigations (MGBX). Landed March 9, 1996 at Kennedy Space Center, FL. Mission Duration: 377 hours 40 minutes 21 seconds.
