Comet Hale-Bopp is seen rising over the Sacramento Mountains and the NM Museum of Space History in Alamogordo, NM in this one-minute exposure. The two tails characteristic of all comets can be clearly seen; one comprised mostly of ice and dust particles (the white tail), and one comprised mainly of ionized gas particles (the blue tail).
